How losing the human part of getting a job done affects employees, customers and society.
I wrote this after another job that wasn’t fully done: two years after a water leak, my bedroom wallpaper is still torn down. While watching another mechanic do an installation, I suddenly saw the bigger picture of how jobs get done — or not — and why. I then asked ChatGPT to help me check the logic and spelling of what I had written.
Boss wants the job done cheaper and faster.
Software.
Tickboxes.
Mobile phones.
Faster, yes.

More unhappy employees and unhappy customers.
Huh?
Talk to the people.
I hear:
They only do what the job is — the tickbox, not the human part.
A mechanic told me himself: many times, only what is on the workpaper gets done.
If they have to make a hole to do the job, they don’t fix the hole they made. They do what they came for, and that’s it.

No own thinking anymore.
No looking at what else is needed to actually finish the job properly.
A simple example.
A water leak in a bedroom ceiling can mean: check the mould, check the ceiling and walls, find and fix the cause of the leakage, check the wallpaper damage, check the window damage, contact insurance, make repairs, and sometimes come back to check the mould again.
But if the work order only says “check leakage”, that is what gets done.
One task.
Then another call.
Another appointment.
Another mechanic.
Another task.
Meanwhile, the customer has to keep calling to get the whole job finished.
Jobs are half-done.
Jobs are fast, but not done with attention.
It makes it all… heartless.
Logical only, without intelligence.
Just dumbed down.
And when the boss wants to change complaints…
They create chatbots so people cannot complain directly.
The workpeople cannot give feedback directly.
And in the meeting room?
Changing the software to allow more tickboxes per issue costs money.
Hiring software engineers.
Dependency.
So often, cheap-assed solutions that aren’t solutions, but create a bigger separation between customer and company.
And sometimes it is simply cheaper – so they think- to send someone back than to give the first person the time and the right tools to finish the job properly.
Which makes no sense.
More appointments.
More travel.
More time.
More money.
More frustration.
More waste.
Where does this leave society?
We are all either customer or employee at a company.
It leaves the managers incapable.
The admins frustrated.
The workers frustrated with angry clients.
The clients frustrated because the job does not get done properly, or only half.
And yes, there are gains.
The fast, simple job gets done fast and easier.
New tech tools do save time.
But…
The general tendency is everybody is unhappy and living in a separated space.
What if…
We bring back heart to what we do and think.
We learn to step back from the fast decisions.
The following of tickboxes and to-do lists.
And feel.
What would be more helpful and create more happy people?
What if…
We bring back the human part?
What if technology without consciousness and conscious decisions is… a society out of balance?
And what if…
Nobody hears that feedback anymore?
Then we need a slap in the face… by the universe.
Not to harm us,
but to get back to our center
and learn how to make better choices!
May this serve you.
Much love,
Felicia.
